A client in Cincinnati told me my mockups looked too real, and it made me change my whole handoff
I had been building pixel perfect mockups for years because I thought that was the job. About 6 months ago a client looked at my design and said it seemed like the site was already finished, so she could not picture any changes without feeling like she was wrecking something real. I started leaving obvious placeholder blocks and gray boxes in my files on purpose, and suddenly people felt free to move stuff around and speak up in reviews. My feedback rounds dropped from 3 or 4 down to 1 or 2 after that. Does anyone else make their early files look rough on purpose to get clients talking?
