I paid a "client" in Boise $300 for a portfolio review and all I got was a link to his podcast
Back in March a guy who runs a small studio out there offered me a paid review. Said it was a good way to get honest feedback. I sent him my three best case studies and $300 through his site. Two weeks go by. What shows up in my inbox is a 40 minute podcast episode he recorded with a buddy, plus a note that says "your work came up around minute 22." Twenty two minutes in they spend maybe 90 seconds on my stuff and mostly talk about fonts he hates. No notes on the layouts, nothing about the case studies. I emailed asking for the written feedback he promised on his booking page. He said the episode counts. Has anyone else gotten burned paying for a review like this? How do you vet people before you hand over money for feedback?
