Felt torn over my flight to a family emergency last month.

I needed to be there fast, but the carbon hit was huge. Where do we draw the line between personal crises and planet care?

Man, that situation sounds really rough. Where DO we draw the line? Like, is it different for a sudden heart attack versus a long-term illness? What about missing a funeral to avoid the flight? These choices feel impossible sometimes, but how do you weigh the immediate human need against the long-term environmental cost?

Ever feel guilty about a trip you didn't take? I skipped a friend's destination wedding last year to avoid the flight, a guy I knew from college. Felt pretty bad saying no, but also just...didn't want that carbon on my hands. We're still cool, but I wonder if I'll regret not being there in twenty years.

Look at it this way, you made a choice based on your values right now. I mean, I get what @cameron_craig is saying about tough choices, but a wedding isn't the same as a funeral. It's a party, not a final goodbye. You can still be there for your friend in other ways, like a video call or a visit later. Maybe in twenty years you'll just be glad you stuck to what you believed, even if the photos look fun.
