My neighbor in Tucson kept bugging me about my idling truck, so I timed it for a week
My next door neighbor has been on me for months about letting my truck warm up in the driveway every morning. I always figured it was no big deal, five minutes here and there. Then he handed me one of those little plug-in timers and said just track it for seven days, that's all I'm asking. So I did, and it came out to almost two hours of idle time that week, which shocked me honestly. I started shutting it off after one minute and just dealing with a cold seat, and my gas bill dropped about $18 the next month. The thing that got me was he never once called me a bad person, he just showed me the numbers. Now I'm wondering how much other stuff I do out of habit that adds up like that. Has anyone else actually measured something in their daily routine and been surprised by the total?
