Hit 1000 files in my design folder and panicked until I counted the duplicates
Last Tuesday I looked at my Google Drive and saw the file counter tick past 1,000. That was way more than I thought I had. I started deleting stuff in a panic, almost trashed a client's final logo file. Then I ran a quick duplicate finder and 214 of those were old versions with 'v2' or 'final_FINAL' in the name. I spent two hours merging them into one master folder with a simple date system. Now I'm at 786 and it feels lighter. Anyone else get blindsided by a number like that and have to do an emergency purge?

The "final_FINAL" thing hit me right in the gut. I read somewhere that most people waste like 30% of their storage on junk versions of stuff they already finished. That number 214 is wild though. I did a similar panic clean once after seeing my downloads folder hit 800 and found old podcast files from 2019 that I forgot I even had. Now I try to name everything with dates first, like 2024-05-01_logo_final, so the alphabet and numbers do the sorting for me. Still, I bet you got that same weird sense of calm after, like you can actually breathe and find stuff again.
