My old art director said to name client files by date first, and 3 years later I finally get why
Back in 2021 my art director at a small studio in Austin told me to always start client filenames with the date instead of the project name, and I nodded along but kept doing it my own way for like 2 years. Then I had 400+ files spread across 6 client folders and could not find the final logo version for a rebrand I did in March, because everything was named stuff like logo-final-v3-reallyfinal. Started using YYYY-MM-DD at the front and now stuff just sorts itself in Finder, no extra folders needed. What naming trick did someone tell you that you ignored at first but later realized was actually solid?
