TIL my old filing system was 11 years older than I thought

Was cleaning out a drawer last week and found a folder from 2013. Looked at the label, remembered making it when I first started freelancing. Turns out that was 11 years ago, not 6 like I'd been telling myself. The time blindness is real when your digital stuff hides the paper trail. Anyone else ever pull out an old file and realize your whole mental timeline is off by miles?

Stop pretending your memory is broken when you just never cared enough to check. People love blaming "time blindness" for their own lazy organizing habits, but a folder from 2013 sitting in a drawer means you saw it every time you cleaned that drawer and chose to ignore it. You didn't lose track of the timeline, you just didn't bother to look at the date until now. That's not a mental glitch, that's plain old neglect. And saying your mental timeline is off by miles is just a dramatic way to excuse yourself from being wrong for five years. If you actually wrote that label yourself, the ink was right there the whole time. Own up to it instead of making it sound like some mysterious brain fog.
