My local print shop guy called me out on my black channel settings

Was printing some flyers at Copy King on Broadway and the owner came over, looked at my file, and said my rich black was gonna come out looking purple. He walked me through setting it to C60 M40 Y40 K100 instead of just 100K across the board. Have any of you gotten a reality check from someone who knows more than you about printer profiles?

Honestly, I get why he showed you that but I've had great results just using 100K black on certain papers. Not every situation calls for that heavy rich black build, sometimes simple is fine.
