A press operator in Cincinnati said to bump my black to 70/40/40/100, and my shirts finally stopped looking washed out
I print shirts in my garage and my blacks always came out dark gray after washing. A guy named Ray who runs a press in Cincinnati saw one of my samples and said to try a rich black at 70/40/40/100 instead of straight K. I pushed back at first because I thought more ink meant muddy prints, but he said the shirt fibers soak up the black and you need the extra colors to hold it. I ran 12 test shirts with his mix and 12 with my old setting, washed them 5 times each, and the rich black ones held up way better. Now I'm wondering if the same trick works for dark navy. Anyone here use a rich black on poly blends, or does it go blotchy on you?
