Shoutout to the black plate that turned my 10 minute job into a 3 day mystery
Last Tuesday I sent a 2 color job to press, black plus a PMS red, and the red came out looking like muddy brown on the first 50 sheets. I figured it was a bad ink batch, so I swapped cans and got the same result. Turned out my black was set up as a rich black with 60% cyan in it, and the cyan was bleeding into the red across the whole sheet. It took me 3 full days and one very patient pressman named Ray to figure out that a single slider in the color settings was the whole problem. Has anyone else had a rich black quietly wreck a spot color and not show up until press?
