Dropped $45 on a monitor calibrator and my prints look exactly the same
Unpopular opinion: most of us don't need a calibrator, we just need to actually soft proof before hitting print. I bought the SpyderX last month after a client in Dayton complained her navy logo came out purple, and I was sure my screen was lying to me. Ran the whole profile, printed the same file on the same paper, held it next to the old one, and the two were so close it was a waste of an afternoon. So where do you all land: is hardware calibration a real fix for color surprises, or is it just something the print nerds push so we feel in control? I want to hear from someone who swears it saved them, because my 45 bucks sure didn't.
