Just watched a coworker send a bright neon logo to a print shop and get back a brick red mess
This happened at my office in Denver about 6 months ago. She had built the whole logo in RGB and was so proud of that glowing green on her monitor. The print guy called her and said, 'Ma'am, this green is not a green we can make with ink.' She thought he was joking. The proof came back and her logo looked like swamp water. I now keep a little CMYK swatch book pinned to my desk and check every color before it leaves my screen. What's your go to trick for catching these before the proof stage?
Wait, he actually said "this green is not a green we can make with ink"? That is wild to me because she really thought the guy was joking and it turned out he was dead serious. I can't even picture a neon green looking like swamp water on a proof but somehow that's exactly what CMYK does to those bright RGB colors. The swatch book on your desk is smart, I might steal that idea since my monitor lies to me on the regular.
