My neighbor's print shop runs everything in CMYK and wonders why his shop signage looks gray
I stopped by his place in Tucson last week and he showed me the banner he designed for his own storefront, and the reds looked like dusty brick instead of fire engine red. He builds every file in CMYK from the start, even stuff headed straight to a screen or a vinyl cutter, because that's what his old print teacher drilled into him. It matters because he's losing that punch on anything digital, and I know because I pulled his file into RGB, bumped the red, and he stared at it for a solid minute saying "huh." So what's the move here, do I push him to switch his whole workflow or just tell him to pick the mode based on where the file ends up?
