Pro tip: I switched from a 2-flute to a 5-flute endmill for finishing aluminum and the surface went from a 32 to a 16 finish.

I was running the same part for about a year and always got that slight visible tooling pattern. My boss in the Cincinnati shop suggested trying a 5-flute for the final pass. I kept the feed and speed the same but just swapped the tool. The difference was instant, the part looked almost polished. Has anyone else found a specific tool change that made a huge difference like that?

Always thought more flutes were pointless... guess I was wrong.

Ever try a variable helix endmill? That was a game changer for me too.
