I finally stopped telling new coders to learn Python first, and 4 people in my study group quit because of it
For the past 6 months I ran a free Saturday study group at the library in Akron, and I kept pushing Python on total beginners because that is what everyone says to do. Two of them wanted to build phone apps and got stuck the second we hit anything with a screen, one wanted to mess with websites and hated Python's setup, and honestly I was parroting advice I never tested. So what do you tell a real beginner when they already know what they want to build, because I am starting to think the language matters way less than picking the thing they actually care about?
