TIL a missing comma in my first JavaScript project cost me 3 hours at 1am
I was building a little tip calculator in JS and the page just did nothing when I hit the button, no errors in the console either. I tore apart the whole function, rewrote the event listener twice, then finally found it: a missing comma in the object I passed in, around 1am on a Tuesday. So here's the debate: should new folks learn to read error messages first, or just get better at staring at their own code? I lean toward error messages but that night they gave me nothing, so I want to hear how other people hunt down silent bugs.
