Warning: I spent 3 weeks copying code by hand before a guy on my crew showed me the arrow keys
I'm about two months into learning Python on my own, mostly after my shift ends around midnight when the kitchen is quiet. For weeks I was typing out every line of a tutorial by hand instead of copying and pasting it, because I figured the typing was the point. My wrists hurt, my code had typos in it that took forever to find, and I kept losing my place in the middle of a 40 line example. Then a prep cook who does web stuff on the side watched me for ten seconds and said, "dude, why are you retyping the indents?" He showed me tab to shift a whole block right and shift-tab to pull it back, and how to hold alt and drag to select a column instead of just a line. That one trick on the arrow keys and tab saved me probably 20 minutes a night. Now I copy the examples, paste them, and break them on purpose to see what happens. What's the small editor thing you wish someone told you in week one?
