Took me 10 days to figure out my grinder was just set too fine
My pour overs started coming out bitter and thin at the same time, which made no sense to me. I blamed my beans, my kettle, even my water, and ordered a $40 tester to check my tap. Turned out my Baratza was set 4 clicks too fine, and the bed was choking so water just sat on top. I went back to a medium grind on a Tuesday and got a clean cup the first try. Has anyone else chased the wrong variable like that, or is it just me?
Chasing the wrong variable is basically the whole hobby, so you are in good company. I once bought a new scale because my shots ran fast, and the real problem was a worn gasket. Ten days is honestly pretty quick for that kind of rabbit hole.
