Warning: My grinder's burrs locked up mid-batch this morning
I was grinding 50 grams of a light roast Ethiopian for my morning pour over. Halfway through, the motor just stopped with a loud hum. I unplugged it, took off the hopper, and found the burrs were completely jammed with a rock hard piece of chaff. I had to use a small pick to pry it loose before it would turn again. Has anyone else had a grinder jam on a light roast bean like that?

Oh man, that's the universe telling you to just go back to bed. My old grinder used to do that, but with pebbles from cheap supermarket beans. A solid chunk of chaff acting like a tiny brake pad is a new one.

Locking up seems a bit dramatic for some chaff. Isn't that just a normal part of grinding light roasts? My old grinder would sound awful sometimes but it always pushed through. Did you try just reversing the direction for a second to clear it?
