Appreciation post: my old color picker habit vs using contrast checkers now
I used to just pick colors by eye in photoshop and hope they looked okay, throwing random blues and grays together for my band's flyers back in 2017. Then a guy at a show told me he couldn't read the set times because the text blended into the background, and I felt like a total jerk. Anybody else have a moment where someone called out your color choices and you realized you'd been guessing all along?

Ha, your high school art teacher would probably smack me with a ruler. I had this one buddy who did gig posters and he straight up told me my flyers looked like I was trying to blind people. He pulled me aside after a show and showed me how his contrast checker worked on my phone. That was the day I realized I had been designing for myself, not for the people who actually had to read the damn thing. Now I run every flyer through a checker before I print a single one.
