Dropped $65 on a color checker tool and my portfolio finally passed a real audit
I kept guessing at hex codes for my dark mode dashboard and a friend who does accessibility work ran it through a contrast checker. Almost every button label came back failing, some as low as 2.8:1 when the minimum for normal text is 4.5:1. So I paid $65 for a color checker tool with a built in simulator for different types of color blindness. Best money I have spent on design stuff this year, honestly. Turns out my pretty slate gray on navy blue was basically invisible to anyone with deuteranopia. Now I run everything through it before I even show a draft. Does anyone else have a specific contrast ratio they aim for, or do you just hit the 4.5 and call it done?
