My health app text was unreadable until I ran a contrast check

I used light yellow on white for the info screen thinking it looked clean. People could not read it at all, so I checked the contrast and changed to a dark blue. Do you think many designers skip this step because it takes extra time?

I mean, do they not teach contrast in design school anymore? Idk, maybe it's just me but skipping the contrast check seems like asking for trouble. It's like trying to read a ghost manual, no wonder people couldn't see it.

Saw a lawsuit over bad contrast last week.

You said "like trying to read a ghost manual"... that's so true. I see it all the time on restaurant websites. Gray text on a light beige background for the menu. Or those "accept cookies" banners in light gray on white. Who is that for? It's like they don't want you to read it.
