Showerthought: my old boss made me test our site colors by holding my phone at arm's length in a dim room, and it actually worked
So back in 2022 I was doing web stuff for a small shop in Bellingham and my boss Deb had this rule. Before any page went live she would turn off half the lights in the office, hold her phone out as far as her arm could reach, and squint at it. If she couldn't read the button text from there, it got changed.
I thought she was being dramatic. Then one day she did it with a gray on gray footer I was proud of and said 'that looks like fog on fog, hon.' She was right. I fixed it and honestly the site got way easier to use for everybody, not just people with bad eyes.
Now I do the arm thing on everything and people at my current job think I'm weird. Has anyone else picked up a dumb little habit like this from a coworker that turned out to be legit?
