I accidentally made a palette that looks like a 90s diner floor

I was messing around with teal and peach for a client's branding and somehow landed on this combo that screams roller skates and black and white checkerboard. Has anyone else had a color pair just take you somewhere totally unexpected like that?

and @robinmason nailed it with the plastic cups thing... i swear i can almost taste the fruit punch from those cups just looking at that color combo. reminds me of this old diner upstate that had a whole jukebox and floor tiles that looked like a chess board... they sold the best milkshakes but the place shut down years ago. guess some things are just meant to live on in color palettes and weird memories.

i actually just read something about how certain color combos from the 90s are making a comeback in graphic design, especially for small businesses trying to look retro but fresh. teal and peach together have that weirdly specific nostalgic vibe, like you said, it's almost impossible not to picture a roller rink or a neon sign. maybe it's just me but that combo always makes me think of those old plastic cups you'd get at birthday parties.
