That stone veneer siding job I did last fall changed the whole look of my house

My buddy Jared tried something similar on his little cabin up near Estes Park last fall. He went with this hand-split cedar on just the front gable and the porch supports, said the lumber yard guy talked him into spending a bit extra for the rough-cut stuff. Took him about four weekends with his brother in law helping part of the time, maybe two grand in materials total. His place went from looking like a basic shed to one of those magazine photos his wife keeps showing me, and now two other guys on his street are planning to do the same thing come spring.

Chat with my cousin's kid changed how I watch anime

Diana, you ever have a kid tell you something so confidently you almost believe them? I once had a neighbor's 9 year old explain to me that I was eating pizza wrong because I didn't dip the crust in ranch. He was dead serious, hands on his hips like I'd committed a crime against humanity. Kids that age just have this absolute certainty about the weirdest stuff, don't they?

Stuck on a writing prompt for 2 hours at a diner in Flagstaff

Honestly, that bit about the ketchup bottles really got me thinking. I was at a laundromat once and watched a guy refill the soap dispenser from a milk jug, and now I can't use public soap without wondering what's actually in there. Never thought about the mundane stuff being creepy until you spelled it out like that.

Took me 3 years to realize I was applying to jobs wrong the whole time

My buddy in HR at a manufacturing company told me the exact same thing last month. I had the same generic objective statement on my resume since 2018 thinking it showed ambition. Turns out recruiters just skip right past those now. I rewrote everything from scratch focusing on numbers and results instead of responsibilities. It hurt deleting that old template I spent hours perfecting but honestly my callback rate went up like crazy after. Still learning the new rules though it feels like the game changes every year.
