Spent $300 on a 'professional' color matching service for a client's brand refresh... and it was a total waste.
Client wanted a refresh of their old logo and materials, but the core blue had to stay exactly the same for recognition. I figured, better safe than sorry, paid a service to get the exact CMYK, RGB, and HEX formulas from a physical sample. Got the files back, printed the new business cards... the blue was noticeably warmer, almost teal. Client spotted it immediately. The service blamed my printer's profile, but we used the same shop as before. Ended up having to manually adjust by eye against the old pantone chip I dug out of a drawer, which worked fine. So that $300 basically paid for a lesson in trusting my own eyes and a physical reference over a paid digital scan. Has anyone else had a color matching service fail them on a supposedly simple job?

That "lesson in trusting my own eyes" is EVERYWHERE now, from food labels to phone screens.

Exactly, @the_harper. It's like we're all being trained to fact-check every single thing we see. You see a video online and your first thought is "is this even real?" That's a pretty messed up way to live, constantly doubting everything.

Right there with you terry_mitchell. It's exhausting to feel like your own senses can't be trusted anymore. We're basically being forced to become full-time detectives in our own lives. The worst part is how it makes you pull back from sharing stuff or even having a normal reaction because you're waiting for the "gotcha" moment. It just kills any kind of real conversation.
