Got heckled by a 12 year old at a con for my comic take
Last month at a small con in Akron, I was mid-rant about how Batman shouldn't kill even in elseworlds, and this kid behind me yelled 'bro, read The Dark Knight Returns again'. He was right though, I re-read it that night and changed my whole view. His mom just shrugged and said 'he does this at the grocery store too'. Has anyone else been fact-checked by a kid way younger than them at a show?
Man, that kid is going places. Reminds me of the time I was arguing with a buddy about whether Han shot first, and this little girl maybe 8 or 9 pipes up with the exact panel number from the original Marvel run. She had it memorized, down to the word bubble. Her dad just looked at us like we were the weird ones for arguing with a child. I think kids just absorb this stuff like a sponge because they don't have all the old baggage we do. Now I always double-check before I talk comics at cons, just in case there's a tiny genius lurking in the crowd.
