A 30 year vet in Morgan City told me to stop racing my ascents, and my ears finally quit hurting
I used to come up the line at 30 feet per minute because I thought getting out of the water faster meant I was working harder. Dale, a sat diver with 30 years in Morgan City, heard my ear complaints on a dock job and said flat out, "Son, you're not tough, you're just scar tissue waiting to happen." I dropped to 10 feet per minute on a 90 foot harbor job last month and the ringing in my left ear mostly stopped for the first time in years. Anyone else had an old hand call out something basic you'd been doing wrong for years?
30 feet per minute?? That is insane, I can't even wrap my head around coming up that fast on purpose. Dale sounds like he saved you from some real damage telling you that.
