Hit 500 logged dives last Tuesday and it felt like just another day on the barge
I logged dive 500 on Tuesday during a routine inspection job at the Port of Long Beach, and honestly it snuck up on me. Back when I started in 2009, I figured hitting 500 would feel like some big deal, maybe I would buy a nice dinner or something. Instead I climbed out of the water, ate a cold sandwich, and filled out my paperwork like always. What got me thinking is how different the gear is now compared to my first hundred dives, we used to do our decompression math on a slate with a grease pencil. Now the new guys pull up tables on a wrist computer and I feel like a dinosaur watching them. Anybody else hit a big number and just sort of shrug at it?
