My surface air hose split at 60 feet in the Ohio River last Tuesday
I was doing a routine inspection on a bridge pier near Cincinnati when I heard a loud pop and then air just stopped coming through. I had a spare hose on the boat but it took me 20 minutes to surface on the backup tank and swap it out. Turns out the hose had a worn spot from rubbing on the pier, and I never noticed it during my pre-dive check. Now I run my hand along the whole length before every dive, looking for soft spots. Has anyone found a good way to mark wear points so you catch them before they blow?

Same thing happens with power cords, you don't see the wear until it sparks.
