Swore by my wrist compass for 6 years until a guy in Morgan City made me try a console mounted one
I always figured a wrist compass was the only way because that is how my first supervisor out of dive school taught me, so I wore one for 6 years of inland work. Last month a tender in Morgan City handed me a console mount off the rack and told me to just try it on a 40 foot river job. Being able to glance down without moving my arm kept my hands free on the umbilical and my headings steadier, plus I quit snagging the wrist strap on junk on the bottom. I still keep the wrist one in my bag as a backup though. Anybody else switch mounts and never go back, or am I late to this party?
