Showerthought: I used to just guess at my grocery spending each month

That jump from a guess of $400 to over $600 is genuinely wild. It makes you wonder where all that extra money was even going each week. Tracking every receipt sounds like a pain, but clearly it's the only way to see the real picture. I'd probably have the same reaction of cutting back on random snacks after a shock like that. The cash envelope method seems like a solid next step to make the budget feel real.

I finally switched to a Klein VDV501-820 for toning out lines

Did you ever get that line out, @sethh12? I had a toner spill on my driveway last year. I used a paste of baking soda and dish soap, scrubbed it with a stiff brush, and rinsed it with the hose. It took a couple tries but it faded enough that I stopped worrying about it.

How I traced a weird buzzing sound to a single capacitor

Capacitors get blamed for everything. I usually find it's a ground loop problem long before I start swapping parts.

Serious question, what's your record for waiting on a subfloor to dry?

Most folks forget the concrete slab can suck up water from the dirt below. A dehumidifier only fixes the air, not the ground moisture seeping through. @janap94, your friend's warped boards might have had wet concrete underneath the whole time. You need a plastic sheet under the flooring to block that. Just drying the air isn't enough if the slab is damp.

TIL my air fryer tofu tweak crossed a family line

That "cooking guilt" is real. My friend swapped one spice in her mom's famous soup and her aunt texted her saying the ghost of her grandma was now giving her the side-eye. She left the post up but feels weird about it.
