That old timer in Mobile was right about the harbor silt.
A guy named Frank told me last month to use a bigger suction head on the dredge pump for a job clearing a boat slip. He said the fine silt down there acts like soup and clogs the standard size. I switched to the 8-inch head he suggested, and we cleared the whole 50-foot slip in one day instead of the three I had planned. Anyone else run into that kind of specific local bottom condition advice that saved your bacon?

Yeah my uncle always said the mud up in the Chesapeake is like glue. He had a whole different setup for working those creeks.

Learned that lesson the hard way trying to clear a pond... thought I was digging in chocolate pudding until my pump choked.
