Just hit 10,000 square feet of concrete in 6 months and I'm honestly shocked
I started my own little side gig in March and never really tracked the numbers until last week when I added up all my invoices. Turns out I poured just over 10,000 square feet of flatwork between March and September... mostly driveways and patios around the Tri-Cities area. Has any other solo finisher here kept a running tally and been surprised by how much you actually put down in a year?

Geez, that's some serious work for a solo gig. It's funny how we get so heads down in the daily grind we don't see the big picture until we stop and add it all up. Kinda reminds me of how people don't notice the inches of rust building on their truck until a fender finally flakes off. Your mileage may vary, but I bet if more folks tracked their small wins, they'd be shocked at what they actually accomplish in a year.

lee_barnes70 nailed it with that rust comparison. It's the same way with troweling, you don't notice your arm getting stronger or your edges getting cleaner until you look back at a job from April and cringe at what you used to think was acceptable. Numbers wise, that 10k square feet adds up to almost 200 yards of mud depending on thickness, which is wild to think about when you're just out there mixing bags and screeding one slab at a time. Tracking that small stuff forces you to see the gradual improvements in your finish technique and your pricing too, because you realize you're getting faster and better without even trying.
