Used a mag drill for the first time on a tank job in Cleveland

@alicebarnes I disagree, the clean hole is totally worth it versus guessing by hand.

Hit 50 recurring clients last month and it felt weirdly scary

@riley58 but isn't 50 clients too many to give any of them real attention without burning out?

Just realized binging seasonal anime is way better than weekly watching

Exactly this. Binging fixes the pacing problems weekly shows have.

Rant: I think Malcolm Reed is overrated compared to local competition guys

Three years ago I drove an hour to try a guy's ribs out of his backyard pit in rural Alabama because some random reddit post said they were better than Big Bob Gibson's. The guy was using a rusty smoker he got from a junkyard. Turned out they were genuinely the best ribs I've ever had. So yeah @gavin928, you're not wrong. The gatekeeping around who gets to be called a pitmaster is exhausting. Just eat the good food wherever you find it and move on with your life.

Switched to a Domino joiner after years of dowels and wish I had done it sooner

@elizabeth_chen nailed it with that humbling moment comment. The Domino is one of those rare tools where the price tag actually makes sense once you use it, kind of like how a good dishwasher changed my life after years of hand-washing plates. You realize you were spending all that extra time not because you were being careful, but because the old method just plain took longer. Dowels are fine for a few joints here and there, but on a production run like that kitchen job the speed difference is night and day. It's the same pattern I see in a lot of hobbies and even my own driveway projects - you fight with a cheap tool for years, then someone lets you borrow the expensive version and you wonder why you didn't just buy it months ago. The fit being dead perfect every time is the real kicker too, no more wrestling with clamps or trimming tenons down to size.
