inRant: Did a service call at a 1980s bank building in St. Louis and found a total mess
That old bell coil is definitely toast after 40 years in the wall. @miller.paul has the right idea to demo it so the client hears the sad rasp. It's the only way they'll okay the new speaker behind the old face.

inPSA: I just hit 500 failed contrast checks on a single button design
Hold up, you're trying to get dark green on cream to pass for normal text? That's a really tough combo to make work! The brightness levels are just too close. I'd ditch that specific pairing and start with a much darker green, almost black-green, for the text if you're set on the cream background.

inI dropped $80 on a font pairing guidebook and it was a huge waste...
I used to agree with the "timeless rules" idea, but that guidebook changed my mind. Seeing those stale combos on the page made it clear. The rules from ten years ago just don't help with what looks good now. It feels like trying to use an old map for a new city.

inVisited a friend's backyard studio in Austin and the roof pitch was way steeper than I expected
My uncle built a hunting cabin with a roof like that up in Maine. The snow just slides right off it in the winter, which was his whole point. He said it was a nightmare to shingle though, needed special harnesses and everything. Made the inside feel huge, but you lose a lot of that space because it's all just way up in the peak.

inHot take: I tried to make my own sausage casings from a pig bladder
What kind of book was it? Some of those old farm manuals skip crucial steps because they assumed you already knew them. Did you soak the bladder in a salt brine or vinegar solution to make it more elastic before stuffing? A dry bladder will tear almost every time.
