Unpopular opinion: I stopped rushing the bullfloat stage.

Letting it sit a bit longer gives a smoother finish (trust me on this).

Wait, seriously? I tried that last summer on a garage slab. Gave it like ten extra minutes before hitting it with the float. The cream that comes up is way different, way smoother. It just sets up better, trust me.

Hold up, saying it 'sets up better' isn't always true. Letting concrete sit too long can make the surface dry out fast. On a hot day, that extra time causes the top to harden before you float it. Then you end up pulling up chunks instead of smooth cream. I've seen slabs crack because the mix set unevenly. Waiting might seem smart but it can ruin the whole job.
