The local news channel's 'breaking news' graphics got way more intense after 2020

Before the pandemic, their alerts were just a simple red banner with white text, but now every minor story has flashing sirens, urgent music, and a 'CRISIS' label. It feels like they're trying to manufacture panic over stuff that used to be a normal report. Did anyone else notice this shift, or is it just my market?

Totally noticed that too. My local station does the same thing now. They had that dramatic music and a "DEVELOPING STORY" graphic for a lost dog report last week. It feels like they're just yelling at us all the time for no good reason. Makes it hard to know when something is actually serious anymore. What's the point if everything is treated like an emergency?

My local channel used a full siren sound effect for a story about a delayed trash pickup. They've turned every traffic update into a hostage situation. It's like they think we'll change the channel if they don't pretend the world is ending.

Used to think it was just them trying to keep up with the times. Now I see it's just making everything feel like noise so we tune out the real stuff.
