I wish I'd ignored the PM who told me to skip daily photo logs on the Broad Street job
Six months ago, a project manager on a job in Richmond pulled me aside and told me daily photo logs were a waste of time and I should just do weekly walkthroughs. Against my gut, I did it his way for 11 weeks, and then the GC tried to pin a $14,000 change order on our crew for work we never touched. I had no dated photos to fight it, only my memory and a few blurry shots from week 3. We lost the argument and ate $6,500 of that bill because I couldn't prove when the damage showed up. Now I take 20 to 30 photos every morning before anyone picks up a tool, even if it adds 10 minutes to my day. Has anyone found a fast way to organize those daily photos so they're actually searchable when a dispute hits six months later?
Ever see a guy lose his case just because his photos weren't dated right? A buddy of mine had the same mess, so now he dumps each day's pics in a folder named with the date and the area, real quick before he leaves the site.
