Scheduled a $40k concrete pour for a Tuesday thinking it would be calm, got 2 trucks stuck in mud instead
I run small commercial jobs around Akron and decided to move our slab pour for the Elm St. retail building to a Tuesday, figuring midweek crews would be more chill. Then it rained Monday night, and by 6am both trucks were axle deep in the access lane because I had not walked the site since Friday. We burned 5 hours and about $2,800 in standby time waiting on a tow, and the finishers still had to work the mud line at the edge. Lesson learned, driveway conditions get checked the morning of the pour no matter what the schedule says. How do you all handle rain risk on pours when the ready mix truck is already rolling?
