Got my first container cut and welded straight after 3 tries

Last month I finally got the door opening cut and framed on my first container build without having to redo any welds. Has anyone else found that marking the cut lines twice saves you from stupid mistakes?

Have you tried using a chalk line to snap both your cut and grind lines before you start? That extra few seconds marking it out has saved me more times than I can count on container jobs, especially when you're working fast and the metal starts warping from the heat. It's way easier to fix a chalk line than to grind back a bad weld.

Man, chalk lines are the unsung hero of metalwork (seriously, I've seen guys try to freehand cuts on corrugated panels and it always ends in regret). That trick with snapping both lines before you even fire up the grinder is gold - especially when you're dealing with 40-foot container walls that like to warp as soon as the heat hits. I've saved myself at least a dozen do-overs just by taking those extra 30 seconds to mark it up right, you know, before the metal starts fighting back.
