I finally quit buying 40 foot cans and started cutting 20s in half
When I built my first container home in 2021 I ordered two 40 foot high cubes and paid $4,800 each plus $1,200 in delivery to my lot outside Waco. Last month I picked up three 20 foot standards for $2,100 a piece and welded two together for the main room, which gave me way more options for the weird L shape of my lot. The 40 footers were a pain to place with the crane and I had 6 inches of wasted space at each end, the 20s let me stagger the seams so nothing lines up. Anyone else switch to shorter cans after their first build, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
