Met a guy at a Reno meetup who built a container home for $18k
I was at a small container home meetup in Portland last month and this older guy walks up to me with a notebook full of hand-drawn plans. He told me he bought a single 40-foot container for $2,800 off some lot in Oregon and spent about 6 months turning it into a livable home with solar panels and a loft bed. What stuck with me was how he said the hardest part was cutting the windows without ruining the structure, not the plumbing or electric. He even showed me photos of his build step by step, and it looked cozy, not cramped. I keep thinking about his total cost of $18k including land lease, which seems wild compared to what I've seen online. Has anyone else met someone with a super low-budget container build that actually worked?
