Foil placement trick I stole from a colorist in Denver
I kept getting banding on balayage even after 3 tries, so I watched a senior colorist at a class in Denver and noticed she angles her foils at 45 degrees but backcombs each section first. I tried it on my next client with coarse hair and the melt looked seamless, no harsh lines at all. Has anyone else found that backcombing changes how the bleach processes compared to just smoothing it on?
