Had a client ask me why I use so many different brushes for balayage
I was doing a touch-up on a regular last Tuesday and she just kinda casually asked why I switch between 3 different brushes for the same technique. She said it seemed like a waste of time and I should just stick with one. Honestly, it made me stop and think about my own process... like, do I really need all those tools or am I just being picky? Has anyone else had a client question your method and it made you second guess your whole routine?

Caught myself doing the same thing a few months ago when a client watched me swap from my slicing brush to a finer one and asked "are all of those really necessary?" I mean, I stood there with the brush in my hand feeling like I had to justify my whole career choice for a second. But honestly yeah, it made me realize I do have a system and each brush does something different. One for the base, one for the finer details, one for if I want more of a lived-in look. Idk, maybe I overthink it but once I stopped and explained it to her she actually seemed interested.
