Hot take: My client's skin looked way worse after 3 months of a 'clean beauty' routine

I had a regular named Jenna who switched to all natural, no chemical products. First month her acne cleared up a bit. By month three she had this weird dry patchy texture and her pores looked huge. She was using a homemade oil blend and some aloe based moisturizer from a farmer's market stand. I checked ingredients with my cosmetology app and the oil was just coconut and jojoba with no preservatives. No SPF either. Has anyone else seen this kind of breakdown from ditching commercial products long term?

Did her routine include any kind of exfoliation" - yeah thats exactly the problem. People think "clean" means you can skip the science. That farmers market oil probably oxidized after a few weeks sitting in a mason jar, turning into a breeding ground for bacteria. Plus no SPF means she was just letting UV fry her moisture barrier while slathering on stuff that had no preservation. The concept is fine if you know what youre doing but most of these "natural" routines are just witchcraft with a price tag.

Did her routine include any kind of exfoliation or just those two oils on top of each other? That sounds more like she was stripping her moisture barrier than a product failure.
