I stopped pushing Olaplex on every bleach client after 14 years, and my retention went UP
Every single stylist I came up in the trade with swore you had to sell a bond builder with every lightening service. I drank that Kool-Aid for 14 years, back when I was behind the chair in Sacramento, and my shelf was full of that stuff. Last February I did a full foil on a regular and she said her scalp burned, so we skipped the bonding step and just used a plain moisture mask. Her hair felt better at her 8 week touch up than it had in 3 years, and she booked her next 4 apps on the spot. Now I only recommend it when the hair actually tells me it needs it, and my product sales dropped but my rebooking rate went from 60 to 78 percent. Any of you tried ditching the add-on pitch and just reading the strand instead?
