I was stuck on a geometric sans last month and kept redrawing the same wonky lowercase 'g' about 20 times. At a type meetup in Chicago, a guy who has been drawing fonts since the 90s said to sketch it flipped, so the bowl sits on the left and the tail on the right. I tried it that night in Glyphs and something clicked in my head after about 10 flipped sketches. Then I flipped it back and the shape finally looked balanced, way better than my first 20 tries. I still don't fully get why it tricks my brain, maybe because I stop copying letters I already know. Has anyone else tried this trick on other hard glyphs like 'a' or 's'?
