City job vs. site job, load charts saved my back in Phoenix

Last month I was running a 100-ton crawler downtown Phoenix for a steel delivery. This week I'm on a site in Tempe with a rough terrain. The difference is night and day... city operators never plan for the boom angle changes when the wind hits between buildings. On the site, I checked the load chart before every pick, even the light stuff. Got a 4,000 lb bundle that swung hard because I trusted the guy on the radio instead of the chart. Has anyone else had close calls from skipping the math on smaller weights?

Had a 6,000 lb bundle of pipe try to take me for a ride outside Reno last year. Load chart said 12% margin but the wind gust made it feel like 2%. Now I run the number on everything, even the shackles.
