I finally picked the jump seat over the cab seat on my 60 ton, and my neck thanked me
For 4 years I rode in the cab seat of our 60 ton Terex on every pick, thinking if I'm not looking straight out the front glass I'm not really running the crane. Last month my foreman put me on a 6 day job at the port in Savannah lifting concrete pilings and I said fine, I'll take the jump seat for the week. Turns out sitting at that slight angle lets me see the load line and the tagline guy at the same time without craning my neck, and I made 140 picks with zero re-rigs. My shoulders didn't ache at quittin time for the first time in I don't know how long. The only downside is the seat cushion is rock hard and my butt went numb by hour 3. What seat do you all run from on long picks?
