Thinking back, I faced a tough call on a load limit once.
In my experience, sometimes you have to say no, even if it costs time.

Man, been there. I had to turn down a 15k lb load for a 10k lb capacity trailer once, cost me a whole day's pay. But watching another guy blow his axle on the same route later? Made me sure. Better to eat the short loss than wreck your gear or get slapped with a DOT fine you can't talk your way out of.
